Paolo NutiniI can’t afford to go the whole weekend, but if you can you should definately check all these people/bands out. Oh and drink lots of water.
UPDATE FROM NME BLOG:
And…PAUL MCCARTNEY. Sir fucking Paul McCartney!!!! (And thenewno2, the band featuring George Harrison’s spitting-image son Dhani Harrison, are playing too, so there’s hope for maybe a cross-generational jam session as well.)
That would be magical. Now I really want to go.
and here’s why:
- I can’t eat spicy food. It’s pretty sad considering all I ever eat back home is Mexican food. The closest I’ve ever gotten to eating a jalapeno is eating the carrots. Even that’s hard. At least I’m not allergic to cilantro like my friend Ben is. Luckily he’s not Mexican.
- I’m not close to my extended family who is basically an entire small village in Mexico. They talk too much about people and they’re such hypocrites. I’m not perfect, but at least I try to mind my own business and give people the benefit of the doubt.
- I don’t like corridos. Some of them are so vulgar and the other ones I can do without. It also doesn’t help that there’s almost no new material just “bands” making “corridos” out of established pop songs. My ears bleed when I hear Tiziano Ferro and Pepe Aguilar’s beautiful “Mi Credo” massacred by God knows who.
- I like British indie music more than the above. Then again in LA most concert attendees are Latino/a so I guess some of them have to be Mexican too.
- I’m not really attracted to Mexicans. I can see the hottness of Mexican boys too but they’re just not for me. I like white boys (in skinny jeans please). My friend said this means I hate myself, but I beg to differ. Honestly who doesn’t like something exotic? To a Mexican, White is exotic. My Nina has no problem with it, she even told me she knows I’m not going to marry a Mexican.
- I don’t eat tortillas unless I’m eating a quesadilla or a burrito and even then I take off the excess tortilla bits.
This list came about after me downing a bottle of Naked Juice in less than 5 minutes because my Chipotle Chicken sandwich had a little too much Chipotle in the Chipotle Mayo.

I love shoes. Like alot. It’s kind of ridiculous. I seriously think it’s genetic. My sister, who is still a toddler, loves shoes too. Whenever we go to a store she grabs a new pair that she likes and will not leave the store without. See it’s hereditary. Our grandmother would probably say this isn’t true because before my mom’s generation, our ancestors didn’t have enough money to wear shoes. This is probably where my love for being barefoot comes from. BIG CONTRADICTION I know. I love shoes, but I also like walking around barefoot. Hey if I have to wear shoes they might as well be pretty right? Anyways my desire for shoes is never satisfied as proved by this little conversation:
Mom: Now that you’re going back to school don’t wear flip flops too much. You need to take better care of your feet.
Me: Mom I have NO SHOES!
Mom: You have so many shoes. You don’t even wear all of them….
She bought me some Oxford heels the other day. I still haven’t worn them, but I’m happy just to stare at them or admire them in a mirror. I was showing my roommate all the shoes I got over break and I didn’t realize there were so many until she said so. I think I might have a problem.
How amazing is this song???
I seriously can’t stop listening to it. It’s kind of ridiculous.
Ever since I found out Polaroid wasn’t going to make film anymore and returned the Polaroid camera my godmother let me borrow after a year of having it, I mourned the loss of the camera and the ridiculous price the film costs now. Anywho (that’s probably not used correctly but I wanted to use it), I’ve had my eye on the Fuji Instax Camera for a while. It’s so cute and I wouldn’t have to deal with stupid machines that won’t print digital photos or labs that say they can’t process film for two weeks. I really really want one, but it’s too expensive right now. It cost $130 on Urbanoutfitters.com and on Ebay it’s like $80 without shipping. I’ll have to wait until I’m not so poor, like when I start working and get paid. Hopefully, it’ll get cheaper… but with my luck, that’s highly unlikely. I can always dream.

There’s honestly nothing better than seeing your favorite bands for free. In my case it’s not possible. If it is for you, GO FOR IT.
So the Libertines are long gone, but I just started getting obsessed with two of their songs.
“Boys in the Band”
It reminds me of people I’ve seen/know.
“Can’t Stand Me Now”
This one makes me think of people who basically “can’t stand me now” for lack of better words.
I wish I could have seen the Libertines live. There’s always hope for a reunion though. Fingers crossed.

So like always my mother didn’t pay the bills on time so AT&T suspended my email account, thereby suspending my flickr account too. She has a legitimate excuse though as my tuition was due last week. But still … I seriously don’t know what’s going on and it’s frustrating.
In other news, after a year and a half of being in college my body has finally adjusted to a college student’s sleep schedule, meaning that I can’t fall asleep until at least 2 AM. This is good because I start school next week and I’m planning on being a model student. For realz (like my friends say) this time.
Filed under: Movies | Tags: Bride Wars, Pineapple Express, Sid and Nancy, Skins, Slumdog Millionaire
So this week, I’ve watched four movies: Slumdog Millionaire, Bride Wars, Pineapple Express, and Sid & Nancy. Slumdog Millionaire was ridiculously good. I loved every minute of it. I never knew Dev Patel could act so well. I think this proves people shouldn’t underestimate Skins or its cast. I’m so excited for the new season! Unfortunately, there’s a brand new cast, but then again it lets the old cast move on and gives other people a chance.
Bride Wars literally made me cry despite being a comedy. I think the whole best friend feud got to me, reminding of sad sad times. It was good though and I wish my story had had the same ending.
Pineapple Express was hilrious. I couldn’t stop giggling. And despite what one of my friends says, I don’t think I need to get high to make it funnier.
Sid and Nancy was intense. Depressing yet so good, even though Wikipedia says some of the scenes are inaccurate.
I totally recommend all of these movies. If you haven’t watch them, do it. Now, excuse me while I look at pictures of my coworker (the one I don’t like) in Oxford. I think I’m going to live through him this semester. Ugh life is so not fair.

I haven’t done much in the last few days. Well maybe I have … at least more than sleep. I actually went to get new glasses and only had to pay 50 bucks for them (my mother graciously paid the other 300). Today after waking up around 10AM (I should be ashamed of myself … in the old country people are done with their day by 6AM at the latest), I went with my aunt to buy racks for her clothes and to find a tricycle for my little sister because tomorrow is being your trike to school day. She doesn’t have one and I didn’t want her to feel left out (I know the feeling and it sucks). So I went to Toys R’ Us and they had one but they didn’t have the helmet I wanted in the size I wanted so we went to Target. No such luck. Picked sister up. Went to Kmart .. they the helmet, but someone stole the knee pads. This is one of the reasons I hate the hood sometimes… people steal things. The other is scratched DVDs at Blockbuster. Anyways she now has her Dora the Explorer helmet and tricycle with Disney Princess knee pads. Mission (Semi) Accomplished.
In other news, I’ve decided to start watching movies and have so far watched 2 and 3/4: Slumdog Millionaire, Bride Wars, and Pineapple Express. My attempt at reviewing them in probably one or two lines, without giving anything away, will follow shortly. As for right now, I have a terrible headache and can’t sleep. I’d take some Tylenol, but I literally can’t swallow pills and after chewing two tablets the day before, I read the bottle and it said “DO NOT CHEW”. I don’t want to risk it.
